OK so I’ve finally decided to purchase a DSLR but I have no idea where to start. As a total beginner to ‘real photography’ I think I’ve got some research ahead of me!
So far I’m leaning toward the Canon EOS 1100D, this being said without any actual real comparison.
I have a feeling that a few visits to the camera store are due.
If anyone has any thoughts, let me know!

You may want to talk to Long π
It all depends on your budget, and which ‘vendor’ you want to buy into: one nice thing is that the lenses you buy can be be used on all the same bodies. So it means if you want to upgrade, you just need to buy the newer/better body.
Personally, I would go with Canon (since I’ve used their stuff, and have faith in their products) – and, as stated earlier, if this is something you want to do seriously (and can afford to spend a bit more) perhaps look at a slightly higher model, which will have additional features which you may want/need if the hobby really takes off π
Thanks Kris!
I wrote to Jas the other night and Long recommended a Canon too!
Went to check out the EOS 600D yesterday, me likey!
I’m going to be good though and wait till 30 days before we head out for our honeymoon to make the purchase…duty free!
I tried out the Nikon too since everyone raves about it but in the end the Canon just felt better to hold and operate. It’s also lighter, which for me (total novice) was a nice little bonus.
